Gweneth Williams, a freshman at El Toro High in California, placed second in the Division 1-2 girls varsity individual sweepstakes race by covering the 2.93-mile layout in 17:43 at the 75th Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational Presented by Nike in Walnut, Calif. Williams, who produced the fastest performance by a ninth-grader in the entire meet, helped the Chargers achieve the team victory by a 108-114 margin against Redondo Union.
